Gillian Allan worked as a doctor in Glasgow and has always enjoyed painting. Both during her working life and since retiral she has attended courses at Glasgow School of Art and has painted with several tutors in France, Italy and USA.
While living in Bearsden she won the Gregor Ian Smith award from Bearsden Art Club. Gillian has developed her work from traditional watercolour and oils to a more abstract and expressive style. Since moving to rural Perthshire she now derives much inspiration from the Scottish landscape.
