Janet Forry BA (hons) Edinburgh College of Art
Janet Forry initially studied at Glasgow School of Art and subsequently at Edinburgh College of Art where she completed her degree and was twice the recipient of The Andrew Grant Scholarship. After graduating she worked on a number of animation productions for film and television and produced illustrations for an educational publisher. Janet gradually moved to roles in arts development running her own arts organisations with clients throughout Scotland as well as tutoring in drawing and painting for the University of Glasgow's Department of Adult Education.
Janet has painted and exhibited widely particularly over the last ten years since her family responsibilities eased. As well as membership of The GSWA Janet is an elected artist member of Paisley Art institute. She is the current president of the Glasgow Southern Art Club. She has exhibited with the Paisley Institute, Royal Glasgow Institute, Glasgow Art Club, the Kelly Gallery and the Torrance Gallery.
Janet takes inspiration from her local landscape particularly in winter creating compositions in oil from quiet fields, paths and woodland near her Busby home. She is also a prize winning portrait painter. She paints her subjects from life and is in demand as a demonstrator of portrait technique.
