The primary objective of the Society is the promotion of interest in art and particularly in the work of women artists, fostering this by regular exhibitions of members' work and other related activities.
We have one new intake of members every year. This year it will be 9th September.
Membership is in four categories
a) artist (painter or applied)
b) student artist
c) lay person
While men may not become members of GWSA they are most welcome as guests at all our exhibiting and social events.
Business affairs of the Society are managed by a Council composed of four office-bearers (President, Vice-President (both of whom shall be artist members), Secretary and Treasurer plus a Membership Secretary and six ordinary members, four of whom should be artist members and two lay members.
Honorary Membership is conferred – recommendations for which should be submitted in writing to the Secretary prior to any Annual General Meeting.
Anyone wishing to apply for artist membership must submit work to the Selection Committee which comprises artist members of the current Council. There is one new artist intake date each year, usually in September. Lay members may join at any time.
The Annual Subscription is £25.00, (£10.00 for Students under age 25) and may be subject to review.
Please do not send any money now but download the form attached below and send it to the address on the form.
Subscriptions are due at the Annual General Meeting (usually October) and those not paying within three calendar months shall be deemed to have resigned. Reinstatement may be granted at the discretion of Council up until 31 January following the AGM on written application to the Secretary.
